Every Fall, JMU Club Composition conducts an interdisciplinary collaboration known as “Art of Music”. Student composers are assigned a piece of artwork, and tasked with writing a short piece of original music to accompany said artwork within the span of a week. The challenge culminates in a concert, this year held in Anthony-Seeger Auditorium, where students are invited to present their artwork, and perform their compositions for an audience. This project has been a great opportunity for students from JMU’s School of Music and School of Art, Design, and Art History, to collaborate and share their skills with one another, and provide an opportunity to share their work with a wider audience.
