“The Unyielding Heart” (2025) | String Orchestra ~5’00”

“The flower with an unyielding heart

so that it’s not swayed in the wind

so that it’s not made to cry by darkness

so that it’s not cut by those sharpening their shears…”

This short excerpt comes from the english translation of ‘花’ (‘Hana’) by Asa-Chang & Junray. The song features fractals of text being repeated over and over by robotic voices, sometimes blurring together. This one part of the text stood out to me as particularly profound and touching, and it inspired the creation of this piece. In “The Unyielding Heart”,  I wanted to convey a sense of self-preservation and strength that one needs to weather the storm, whatever that storm may be.
